The brief for this design was to create a wine processing facility as an initial phase, which can expand and develop into a fully-fledged lifestyle destination where patrons can  experience  the end products of the facility. The site is totally surrounded by panoramic views of the greater Paarl region.

A pitched, contemporary steel portal structure, which can be added to as the facility develops, is nested in the site’s natural contours. The industrial nature of the profiled steel clad portal frame, expresses the main function of the facility, while the use of natural Cape red brick, exposed timber and concrete connects the facility to nature. The pitched roofs of the portal frame pays homage to the traditional Cape Vernacular Architecture of the region. Wrapping horizontal planes with large glazed backdrops, screen the user from direct sunlight, promotes social gathering and blurs the transition between the exterior and interior.
